Phenolic Labels, Lamacoid Tags, Engraved Nameplates and Custom Placards
Custom nameplates for electrical equipment: phenolic labels, lamacoid tags, engraved plastic nameplates, equipment ID labels and electrical panel labels, cut and engraved in Phoenix from your panel schedule or equipment list. Machine engraved two-color plastic, 3M adhesive on every plate, mounting holes on request. Send the schedule and get a line-by-line proof, usually the same business day. No minimum order, no rush fees. Small runs ship the same day, big jobs in 72 hours. Or call (602) 649-5305.
Phenolic labels and lamacoid tags, engraved two-color plastic
Phenolic labels, lamacoid nameplates and laminated plastic nameplates are three names for the same engraved plate: a 1/16 inch two-color laminated plastic that is engraved through the cap layer so the legend is the core color. Phenolic nameplates do not fade, peel or wash off, which is why electrical specs call for them on switchgear, panelboards, disconnects and motor control.
- 1/16 inch two-color laminated plastic (phenolic, lamacoid, laminated acrylic or melamine)
- Black with white letters for normal power, red with white letters for emergency and fire alarm, your color for UPS and standby
- 3M adhesive on every plate; mounting holes on request
- Custom phenolic labels at $0.60 per square inch, stock legends at $0.50. A 2 x 8 inch plate is $9.60, a 2 x 10 inch plate is $12.00
Call them phenolic tags, phenolic signs, phenolic placards or adhesive phenolic labels: every one is the same engraved phenolic nameplate, cut from 1/16 inch stock with 3M adhesive. Engraved phenolic labels and custom engraved phenolic labels are what we run most, because phenolic labels for electrical gear are what the spec asks for. Electrical panel phenolic labels for the gear, custom phenolic tags for valves and equipment, and a phenolic label submittal sheet for the engineer on request. Custom lamacoid nameplates, lamacoid plates, lamacoid signs and engraved lamacoid tags (lamacoids, as the spec writers back East call them) are the same plate, so whether the schedule says phenolic lamacoid labels or laminated plastic nameplates, you get the same engraving.
Send the panel schedule or an Excel list of legends. We engrave in schedule order so the crew can hang plates straight down the lineup.
Just need a few nameplates? Build one right here
No schedule, no quote, no waiting on a proof. Type your text, pick the plate size, letter height and color, watch the plate update, and add it to the cart. It is the same 1/16 inch engraved two-color plastic we run for full jobs, with 3M adhesive on the back, laser engraved in Phoenix and shipped the same day by FedEx. Priced by size from $3 a plate. Ten plates or more, or anything with a schedule? Send it through the quote and we proof it for you.
Preview is to scale for proportions, not exact font. Engraved in Phoenix, ships by FedEx.
Engraved plastic nameplates for switchgear, panels and disconnects
When the spec says "engraved laminated plastic nameplate, machine engraved, not handwritten," this is the plate. Custom engraved plastic nameplates for switchboards, panelboards, transformers, disconnects, VFDs and motor starters, each one carrying the equipment name, voltage, source and anything else the drawings call for. These are electrical nameplates built for the gear, not desk plates.
- Engraved nameplates and equipment nameplates in any size, by the inch
- Legends typed from your schedule, so nothing is transcribed by hand on site
- Same-day proof; small runs ship the same day, full schedules in 72 hours after approval
- Engraved plastic tags and engraved plastic labels for equipment, panels and controls: laser engraved labels in any size, custom engraved labels from your list
- Engraved equipment nameplates and custom engraved nameplates for industrial gear: industrial nameplates, equipment nameplate tags, custom equipment nameplates, engraved equipment tags and durable equipment nameplates that outlast a printed label
- Engraved electrical panel labels, electrical panel nameplates and engraved electrical labels for switchgear, in the two-color plastic the spec calls for
Building out a data center? Nameplates follow the color-by-power-source rule and carry the "fed from" line. See data center labeling.
Equipment ID labels and equipment nameplates, made from your equipment list
Equipment ID labels put the tag number from the one-line on the gear itself: disconnects, motors, pumps, air handlers, VFDs, transformers and junction boxes. Engraved plastic for permanent IDs, printed vinyl where a label needs to go on today and move tomorrow.
- Equipment ID tags and labels engraved or printed from the equipment schedule
- Optional "fed from" and voltage lines on every tag
- Packed in schedule order, by area or by floor, so the installer is not sorting a bag of plates
- Electrical equipment labels, equipment identification labels and equipment identification tags: custom equipment labels, custom equipment tags, plastic equipment tags and plastic equipment ID tags, engraved as permanent equipment labels
- Industrial equipment labels and industrial equipment tags for pumps, compressors, air handlers and anything else on the equipment list
Electrical panel labels and electrical ID
Panel directories, breaker labels, feeder and conduit labels, voltage markers and source-of-supply labels for the whole electrical room. Engraved plastic for the panel nameplate, printed vinyl at $0.10 per square inch for directories and breaker schedules, and the stock NEC labels an inspector expects to see.
- Electrical panel labels engraved or printed from your panel schedule
- Conduit, feeder and junction box labels to match
- Stock electrical labels ship same day from the electrical panel label collection
- Panel nameplates, panelboard nameplates, switchgear nameplates and MCC nameplates in engraved two-color plastic
- Custom electrical labels: voltage labels, disconnect labels, switchgear labels, panelboard labels, control panel labels, electrical panel tags and custom electrical panel labels, printed or engraved
- Conduit markers, conduit identification labels, busway labels, bus duct labels and PDU labels: electrical identification labels for the whole room
Wire and cable ID for the same job, including heat shrink and wrap-around labels, is on the wire and cable labels page.
Custom placards, any size and legend
Custom placards for anything the drawings call out that is not a stock sign: disconnect locations, utility notices, room IDs, equipment warnings and site-specific instructions. Engraved placards are priced by the square inch at $0.60 custom and $0.50 stock, so a quote is quick math, not a guess.
- Engraved two-color plastic, or printed vinyl where the placard is temporary
- Any size, by the inch, with holes or adhesive
- One placard or five hundred, proofed before anything is cut
Need one placard today? The custom engraved placard is on the store with sizes and text fields, no quote needed.

This place was fantastic! After ordering from another vendor several times and still didn't have what I needed when I found Print Pro. They made sure I had everything within a couple of hours so I could pass inspection. Thank you!

Send the schedule. We'll quote every plate.
Attach the panel schedule, the equipment list or a photo of what is on the gear now, and an account manager quotes it line by line, usually the same business day.
Placards and nameplates, answered
What is a phenolic label?
What is a phenolic label?
A phenolic label is an engraved two-color plastic plate. The top layer is one color, the core is another, and the engraver cuts the legend through the top so the lettering shows in the core color. Electricians use them as equipment nameplates, panel labels and placards because the lettering cannot wear off.
Phenolic, lamacoid or laminated plastic: what is the difference?
Phenolic, lamacoid or laminated plastic: what is the difference?
In practice, none. Phenolic is the older material name, lamacoid is a brand name that stuck, and laminated plastic is what the spec writers call it. All three mean a two-color plastic plate engraved through the top layer so the lettering is the core color. We use the same 1/16 inch stock for every one.
Phenolic or acrylic: which is better for electrical nameplates?
Phenolic or acrylic: which is better for electrical nameplates?
For nameplates on electrical gear, two-color laminated plastic (phenolic or acrylic core, the industry uses both) is the standard because it engraves cleanly, holds up to heat and solvents, and is what the spec calls for. Printed vinyl is the budget option for directories and temporary IDs. Aluminum is quoted when the spec requires metal.
What thickness and colors do you stock?
What thickness and colors do you stock?
1/16 inch is the standard and the only thickness we run, because it is what every spec asks for. Black with white letters and red with white letters are always in stock. Other color combinations are quoted by the job.
Adhesive or screws?
Adhesive or screws?
Every plate ships with 3M adhesive on the back. Ask for mounting holes on the quote if your spec or the equipment calls for screws, and we drill them before shipping.

Can you engrave straight from my panel schedule or an Excel file?
Can you engrave straight from my panel schedule or an Excel file?
Yes. Send the schedule or the Excel and we build the proof from it, one line per plate, in your order. Nothing is retyped by hand.
Can you match the color rule in my spec?

Yes. The usual rule is black for normal power, red for emergency and fire alarm, and a third color for UPS or standby. Tell us the rule on the quote and every plate follows it.
