Ethanol NFPA 704 Diamond Sign: Health 2, Flammability 3, Instability 0
Post the correct NFPA 704 rating for ethanol and ethyl alcohol on solvent cabinets, drum storage, lab doors and sanitizer stock rooms. Ethanol carries a 2-3-0 rating: Health 2 (moderate hazard, intense or continued exposure can cause injury), Flammability 3 (flash point about 55 F, ignites at normal room temperature), Instability 0 (stable). No special hazard symbol applies. Confirm the rating against your supplier's Safety Data Sheet, Section 16, since denatured blends can differ.
The sign uses the standard NFPA 704 diamond with blue, red and yellow quadrants and a white special hazard field. Fire crews and inspectors read it the same way on every site.
